Table tennis for both men and women will be making its fourth Olympic appearance. Medals will be awarded in singles and doubles for men and women. The competition runs from September 16-25 and will take place at the State Sports Center. The official table on which the event is conducted is only 30 inches high, nine feet long and five feet wide. The net is six inches high. A game is won when a player accumulates 21 points. Each player serves five consecutive times, then gives service to his or her opponent for five tries. If a game is tied at 20, the first player to gain a two-point advantage is the winner.
